600 Workers Permanently Laid Off at Hudson's Bay Stores Across Canada

Hudson’s Bay is permanently laying off 600 staff members across Canada amid the ongoing corona virus.
The company’s spokesperson Tiffany Bourré told CBC News that the layoffs represent less than five percent of the company’s total workforce.
Last month, the company asked the Ontario Superior Court of Justice if the provincial government can review its decision to temporarily close non-essential retailers, stating no difference between Hudson’s Bay and big box stores that were allowed to stay open.
The court dismissed the bid saying, “allowing big-box stores that happen to sell groceries to remain fully open — potentially generating more customer traffic — is "open to question."
